Voices: Art is Often Painful and Ephemeral

This is a sample story done in Adobe VOICE for a Foundation Art and Design student narrative project titled "VOICES: My Creative Journey" It follows the arc of their creativity using the Personal Growth framework available within the iPad App. Students recount seminal moments in their journey that include the discovery of their passion, challenges, opportunities and fulfilment as well as exploring future goals. This helps the student to articulate the significance of their work, their creative inclinations and direction in order to prepare them for entry into full time degree and diploma programs.

SAMPLE STORY

This is a quick exercise that I did in class with my students to introduce them to the "off-the-cuff" immediate sort of storytelling that is easily enabled buy Adobe Voice.

I challenged students to tell me a story about their own personal journeys in creativity. I provided them with a rough set of prompts to stimulate their thinking and asked them to tell the story that reaches back into their PAST, explores the PRESENT and ruminates on their FUTURE.

I decided to share with them my earliest recollection of doing something creative. What resulted from that exercise was a story about creating a very beautiful drawing of a horse.
